Saturday Selah: Held Through Every Season
Scripture:
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 NIV
There are weeks when faith feels triumphant and steady.
And then there are weeks like this one — tender, revealing, stretching, and deeply human.
This week in The Witness Journal, we walked through stories of women who carried longing, responsibility, disappointment, comparison, nurturing, waiting, and calling. Yet through every story, one truth remained constant:
God stayed near.
We began by reflecting on faith that nurtures — the kind of faith that does not simply speak life, but sustains it. We considered the sacred responsibility of influence, care, and formation, recognizing that nurturing is not limited to motherhood alone. It is woven into how we love, guide, protect, and serve one another.
From there, we stepped into the ache of comparison through Leah’s story. We sat honestly with the pain of wanting to be chosen, wanting to feel enough, wanting to know our worth apart from human approval. Leah reminded us that God sees what others overlook, and that our value was never meant to be measured by another person’s preference.
As the week continued, we reflected on the weight and wonder of calling — how purpose often grows in difficult soil. Calling is beautiful, but it can also feel heavy. Sometimes obedience asks us to keep tending the ground long before we see visible fruit. Yet even in failure, God’s grace continued covering Adam and Eve, reminding us that redemption did not begin after perfection. It began the moment God pursued humanity in love.
Then came Sarah’s story — the tension of delayed promises, weary waiting, and learning how to trust God’s timing without losing heart. We reflected on how waiting is not passive. It is active surrender. It is becoming while believing. Sometimes we focus so heavily on the promise itself that we miss the transformation happening within us while we wait.
And finally, we closed the week resting in the comfort of being held by God Himself. Not simply seen. Not simply known. But held.
Held in exhaustion.
Held in uncertainty.
Held while becoming.
Held while healing.
Held while learning how to trust again.
This week reminded us that spiritual growth is rarely linear. Faith is not always loud or dramatic. Sometimes it looks like showing up tired but willing. Sometimes it looks like praying honestly. Sometimes it looks like choosing peace instead of panic. Sometimes it looks like resting long enough to realize God has been carrying us all along.
As we pause today, may we release the pressure to have everything figured out.
We do not have to force the timing.
We do not have to compete for worthiness.
We do not have to strive endlessly for God’s attention.
We are already seen.
Already known.
Already loved.
Already held.
Sit With This
- Where have you noticed God holding you this week?
- What part of your waiting season may actually be shaping you?
- Have you been striving for affirmation that God has already spoken over your life?
- What would it look like to rest instead of rush today?
Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You for meeting us in every season this week — in our questions, our weariness, our waiting, and our becoming. Thank You for reminding us that Your love does not disappear when life feels uncertain. Teach us to rest in Your presence instead of striving for control. Help us recognize the ways You are shaping us even now. And when we feel tired or unseen, remind us that we are safely held by You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Leona
