Saturday Selah: Learning to Let Go and Trust

Good morning…
Today is Saturday Selah.

A moment to pause…
to breathe…
and to recognize what God has been gently teaching us all week.

This week wasn’t just about surrender.
It was about trust.

Again and again, we were invited to loosen our grip—
to release what we’ve been holding tightly.
Not because it doesn’t matter…
but because God was reminding us that He is the One who holds it all.

We often think of surrender as loss.
But this week, Scripture has been quietly reshaping that perspective.

Everything we have… everything we carry…
it already belongs to Him.

So when God asks us to release something,
we’re not losing it—we’re returning it.

Returning it to the One who is faithful.
Returning it to the One who provides.
Returning it to the One who sees beyond what we can.

And maybe, if you’re honest, this week stretched you.

Maybe there were moments where letting go didn’t feel peaceful…
it felt uncertain.

Moments where trust didn’t feel natural…
it felt like a choice you had to keep making over and over again.

But even there—
especially there—
God was proving something steady and unchanging:

He is trustworthy.

So today… before you move into a new week…
pause and reflect.

Where did God ask you to release control?
Where did He gently nudge you to trust Him more?
Where did you feel the tension between holding on… and letting go?

Sit with that for a moment.

And now… release it.

Not carelessly.
Not out of frustration.
But intentionally.

You are not letting it fall—
you are placing it.

Placing it into the hands of a faithful God.
A God who is not confused by what concerns you.
A God who is not overwhelmed by what overwhelms you.

Take a breath…

Inhale peace.
Exhale pressure.

You don’t have to carry unanswered questions into a new week.
You don’t have to solve what God has already seen through.

Scripture reminds us:

“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this.”
— Psalm 37:5 (NIV)

Stillness isn’t empty.
It’s not doing nothing.

Stillness is where striving ends…
and trust begins.

So rest here, just for a moment longer.

Let your mind quiet.
Let your shoulders soften.
Let your heart settle.

God is not trying to take from you.
He is showing you that He can sustain you.

This week wasn’t about losing control…
it was about learning who truly holds it.

And He does.

So today…
rest.

This is your Selah.

Not the end of the story—
just the place where you pause…
and remember who is writing it.

Five-Minute Stillness Practice

Minute 1: Arrive
Find a quiet position…
Sit comfortably, shoulders relaxed.
Take a slow breath in…
and gently exhale.
Again… inhale peace…
exhale pressure.
Let your body settle.
Let this moment be enough.

Minute 2: Release
Bring to mind anything from this week
that felt heavy… unresolved… or uncertain.
Don’t analyze it.
Just notice it.
Now quietly say to yourself:
“I release this.”
Not because it doesn’t matter…
but because God is able to carry it.
Let your hands rest open if you can…
a posture of letting go.

Minute 3: Trust
Now shift your focus.
Whatever you released—
imagine placing it into God’s hands.
Not dropping it…
placing it.
Gently remind yourself:
“God is faithful with what concerns me.”
Sit with that truth.
Let it settle deeper than your thoughts—
let it reach your heart.

Minute 4: Rest
Now… stop striving.
No asking.
No figuring out.
No rehearsing.
Just be.
Breathe slowly.
If your mind wanders, softly return to this:
“God, I trust You.”
Stay here… in quiet rest.

Minute 5: Receive
As you begin to come out of stillness,
hold onto this truth:
You are not carrying this alone.
God has already gone ahead of you.
Take one more deep breath in…
and release it slowly.
When you’re ready, open your eyes.
Carry this peace with you.
