Saturday Selah: Becoming Is Holy Work

Scripture: Philippians 1:6. NIV

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Selah Moment

Before you read another word, take one slow breath.

Think back over this week.

Not what still needs to change.
Not where you still struggle.
Not who you wish you were.

Simply notice where God has already been at work.

Selah.

Reflection

This week we’ve talked about being transformed in God’s presence, becoming a new creation, renewing our minds, discovering our purpose, and trusting that His grace is still shaping us.

What a beautiful reminder that becoming isn’t measured by perfection.

It’s measured by surrender.

Sometimes we think spiritual growth should happen all at once. We want the breakthrough, the victory, the finished masterpiece. But Scripture reminds us that God is just as present in the process as He is in the promise.

Every time you choose forgiveness over bitterness…
Every time you return to prayer instead of giving up…
Every time you believe God’s truth instead of the enemy’s lies…
Every time you get back up after falling…

You are becoming.

Most of us don’t notice our own growth because we’re looking for dramatic change. God often works more like a gardener than a sculptor. Growth happens quietly. Roots grow long before blossoms appear. Seasons of waiting are never wasted.

One day you’ll look back and realize you are responding differently than you once did.

You’ll love more deeply.
Trust more freely.
Forgive more quickly.
Rest more completely.

Not because you made yourself into someone new…

But because Christ has been faithfully making you more like Him all along.

So today, don’t rush toward next week.

Don’t measure yourself against yesterday.

Simply rest in this truth:

The God who began this beautiful work in you has never stopped working.

• Where have I seen God’s quiet work in my life recently?
• What change has happened so gradually that I almost overlooked it?
• How can I rest in God’s faithfulness instead of striving to “fix” myself?

Prayer

Father, thank You for never giving up on me. Thank You that Your work in my life continues even when I cannot always see it. Help me trust Your timing, celebrate the quiet ways You are changing me, and rest in the confidence that You always finish what You begin. As I move into a new week, remind me that I do not walk alone. You are faithfully making me more like Jesus every single day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
