Saturday Selah: What Endures Beyond Us
Scripture: Galatians 6:9
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
This week has invited us to consider the kind of legacy that truly lasts.
We have reflected on Abraham’s faith in promises he would never fully see fulfilled, Joshua’s call to choose faithfulness every day, David’s desire to pass wisdom to the next generation, Paul’s investment in those who would continue the work after him, and the reminder that faithful lives leave echoes that continue long after we are gone.
Today, we simply pause.
Selah
Before you step into a new week, take a quiet moment.
When you hear the word legacy, what comes to mind?
How has the world taught you to define it?
Is legacy measured by success? Wealth? Accomplishments? Influence? The number of people who remember our name?
Now think a little deeper.
Who quietly shaped your life?
Who prayed for you when you didn’t know they were praying? Who believed in you before you believed in yourself? Who offered wisdom that still guides your decisions? Who modeled what faithfulness looked like—not through extraordinary moments, but through everyday obedience?
Perhaps their names will never appear in history books. Yet their lives continue to bear fruit because they faithfully planted seeds in others.
Now gently place that picture beside God’s definition of legacy.
Scripture rarely measures a life by recognition or achievement. Instead, God measures a life by faithfulness. A kingdom legacy is not built by how many people know our name, but by how faithfully we point others toward His.
Sit with that for a moment.
What seeds are you planting today?
What quiet acts of obedience may still be bearing fruit long after you’re gone?
What prayers are you praying today that God may answer in a generation you will never meet?
And what if the greatest part of your legacy is something you’ll never witness this side of eternity?
Selah.
There is no pressure to make your life extraordinary in the eyes of the world. There is only the invitation to be faithful today and to trust God with everything that comes after.
As this week comes to a close, release the need to measure your impact. Rest in the assurance that every seed planted in love, every act of obedience, every quiet prayer, and every faithful step is seen by the Father. The harvest has always belonged to Him.
Prayer
Father, thank You for reminding us that faithfulness is never wasted. Help us to release the need for immediate results and trust You with the harvest. Give us hearts that are content to plant seeds of love, truth, grace, and obedience, knowing that You alone bring the increase. May our lives reflect Your faithfulness each day, and may the legacy we leave always point others to You. Teach us to rest in Your timing and to trust what You are doing beyond what we can see. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
