Looking Ahead to Holy Week — Palm Sunday
Entering Holy Week with Intention
Scripture Focus (NIV):
“Hosanna to the Son of David!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
— Matthew 21:9 (NIV)
A Sacred Beginning to the Week Ahead
Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week—the moment Jesus enters Jerusalem in humility, welcomed with praise, palm branches, and expectation.
The crowd recognized something holy…
even if they didn’t fully understand it.
And as we step into this week, we are invited to do the same.
To recognize Him.
To honor Him.
To walk with Him—intentionally.
What This Week Holds for Us
This is not just another week.
This is a transition week—from reflection into response, from learning into living, from witnessing into walking.
Before we move fully into the events of Holy Week, we will take time to look back and respond to what God has been doing throughout this past month.
Monday (3/30) — Reflection
We pause and look back:
- The women we’ve studied
- The quiet courage we’ve encountered
- The ways God has been speaking to our hearts
This is a moment to recognize His faithfulness.
Tuesday (3/31) — Response
We don’t just reflect—we respond:
- What is God asking of us now?
- What have we learned that requires action?
- Where is He calling us to step forward in faith?
Reflection reveals.
Response aligns.
Then We Enter the Heart of Holy Week
Beginning Wednesday (April 1), we walk with Jesus through the final days:
- Wednesday (4/1) — The Anointing at Bethany
(Matthew 26:6–13 NIV) - Thursday (4/2) — The Last Supper & Servanthood
(John 13:12–17; Luke 22:19–20 NIV) - Friday (4/3) — The Cross: “It is finished.”
(John 19:30 NIV)
Each day is an invitation—not just to read, but to draw closer.
How We Move Through This Week
We won’t rush this.
We will:
- Reflect honestly
- Respond faithfully
- Walk intentionally
Because Holy Week is not meant to be observed from a distance…
it is meant to be experienced up close.
A Gentle Invitation
Just like the crowd on Palm Sunday, you may not fully understand everything God is doing right now.
But you can still:
- Recognize Him
- Welcome Him
- Follow Him
Let this week be one where you don’t just look ahead…
…but step forward.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
As we enter this Holy Week, guide our hearts with intention and clarity. Help us to not rush past what You are revealing. As we reflect on where You have brought us and respond to where You are leading us, give us the courage to walk closely with You.
Let this be a week of deeper surrender, greater awareness, and faithful obedience.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Leona
