Now It’s Our Turn
Faithful Witness: Women Whose Quiet Courage Changed History
Scripture Focus
- Micah 6:8 NIV
- James 1:22 NIV
“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good… To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
“Do not merely listen to the word… Do what it says.”
When Reflection Becomes Response
We have spent this month remembering.
Sitting with stories.
Learning from lives.
Tracing the quiet courage of women who said yes to God in ways that shaped history.
But there comes a moment—
when reflection is no longer enough.
A moment when what we have received
begins to ask something of us.
Their Faith Was Never Meant to Stay in the Past
Deborah rose when leadership was needed.
Jael acted when courage was required.
Huldah spoke what God revealed.
Priscilla invested in the growth of others.
They did not wait for perfect timing.
They did not wait to feel fully ready.
They responded.
And their obedience became part of a greater story—
one that did not end with them.
Because faith was never meant to be admired from a distance.
It was meant to be lived.
The Same Invitation Still Stands
The God who called them
is still calling.
Not always loudly.
Not always dramatically.
But faithfully… consistently… personally.
He calls in the quiet nudges.
In the moments that feel small.
In the opportunities we might be tempted to overlook.
To act justly.
To love mercy.
To walk humbly with Him.
To not just hear—
but to respond.
Walking This Out in Holy Week
And in this Holy Week, that invitation becomes even more personal.
As we walk with Christ toward the cross, we are not just remembering His obedience—
we are being invited to follow Him in ours.
This week is not only a remembrance—
it is an invitation to walk more closely with Him, step by step, in humility, surrender, and trust.
What Does Your Yes Look Like?
It may not look like Deborah’s leadership.
It may not look like Jael’s boldness.
It may not look like Huldah’s authority or Priscilla’s teaching.
But it will look like your obedience.
- The conversation you’ve been hesitant to have
- The step you’ve been quietly avoiding
- The gift you’ve been unsure how to use
- The place where God has been gently prompting your heart
This is where faith becomes real.
Not in what we admire—
but in how we respond.
A Gentle Commissioning
You don’t need a platform.
You don’t need perfection.
You don’t need certainty about every step.
You only need a willing heart.
The same God who equipped them
will equip you.
The same Spirit who guided them
will guide you.
And the same faithfulness that marked their lives
can mark yours.
Their stories were never meant to stay on the page.
They were meant to continue—
through us.
Right Here, Right Now
Here, in the middle of Holy Week, the question becomes even clearer—
Not just what we have learned…
but how we will follow.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the ways You have spoken to us through the lives of these women.
As we walk through this Holy Week, help us not to remain unchanged.
Let what we have seen and learned take root in our hearts.
Give us the courage to respond when You call.
The humility to walk closely with You.
And the faith to trust You with every step forward.
Show us what our yes looks like—
and give us the strength to walk in it.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Leona
