Saturday Selah: The Sacred Silence of Holy Saturday

Reflection

Holy Saturday is the day we don’t often talk about.

The cross has already happened.
The victory of resurrection has not yet been revealed.
And so… we sit in the silence.

It is the space between promise and fulfillment.
Between grief and glory.
Between what was and what will be.

For the disciples, this day likely felt like confusion, loss, and unanswered questions. Everything they had hoped for seemed buried behind a sealed tomb. Heaven felt quiet. God felt still.

And yet—God was not absent.

Even in the silence, He was working.
Even in the waiting, He was moving.
Even in what felt like an ending, He was preparing resurrection.

This week, we have walked through moments of devotion, surrender, service, and sacrifice. We have reflected on what it means to follow Christ—not just in the light, but in the cost.

And now, we pause.

Not to rush ahead to Sunday.
Not to skip over the stillness.
But to honor the sacredness of waiting.

Because some of the holiest work God does…
happens in the quiet places we don’t fully understand.

Selah Moment

Where in your life are you sitting in a “Holy Saturday” space?

A place where:

• You’ve been faithful… but haven’t seen the outcome yet
• You’ve released something… but haven’t received what’s next
• You’re trusting God… but the answer feels delayed

Instead of striving for clarity today, allow yourself to rest in this truth:

God is still working—even in the silence.

Let this be a day of quiet trust.

Heavenly Father,

In the stillness of this Holy Saturday, teach me how to wait with trust.
When I don’t see movement, remind me that You are still working.
When I don’t hear answers, quiet my heart to rest in Your presence.

Help me not to rush past this sacred space,
but to honor the work You are doing beneath the surface.

Strengthen my faith in the in-between moments,
and anchor my hope in who You are—not just what You do.

I trust that what feels silent is not empty,
and what feels like an ending is not the end.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
