Looking Ahead at The Witness Journal: We Are Not Alone
Scripture: Ephesians 2:19–22 NIV
We were never meant to walk this journey of faith alone.
Throughout this month, we have explored what it means for God to dwell with us. We have considered His presence in ordinary moments, in times of uncertainty, in our work, and even in the quiet places where words fail us.
But God’s presence is not limited to our individual experiences. He also makes Himself known through the people He brings into our lives.
In Ephesians 2:19–22, Paul describes believers as members of God’s household, joined together with Christ as the cornerstone. Each person is part of something greater than themselves. Together, we are being built into a dwelling place for God through His Spirit.
Think about what that means. God is not simply working within each of us independently. He is also building something among us.
Sometimes we encounter His care through someone who notices we’re struggling and offers a helping hand. Sometimes His comfort comes through a person who sits beside us without trying to fix what hurts. And sometimes His presence becomes especially meaningful when we gather to pray, worship, share our experiences, or simply listen to one another.
Yet community can be complicated.
We may find it easier to care for others than to admit when we need care ourselves. We may hesitate to become vulnerable because of past disappointments. Some of us have experienced rejection or hurt from the very people we expected to provide love and support.
God does not ask us to ignore those wounds or remain in relationships that cause harm. Healthy community requires love, honesty, mutual respect, and boundaries. And even when people fall short, God’s faithfulness remains.
Perhaps one of the most important lessons of abiding is learning that dependence on God and healthy connection with others are not competing forms of strength. God often uses one to nlĥĥyuuurture the other.
This week, we will consider what it means to belong, to share one another’s burdens, to offer the gift of presence, and to remain open to God’s care even when human relationships disappoint us.
Because we are not simply individuals seeking God’s presence.
We are also people through whom His presence can be made known.

A Thought for the Week
What if someone else’s presence in your life is part of how God is caring for you? And what if your willingness to be present for another person becomes a way for them to experience His love?
We don’t have to carry everything alone, and we don’t have to have all the answers to make a difference.
Sometimes the most meaningful gift we can offer—or receive—is simply the assurance that someone is there.
Let Us Pray
Heavenly Father, thank You for making us part of Your family. Teach us to recognize Your presence in the people around us and to reflect Your love through our own lives. Help us receive care as freely as we offer it, show compassion without judgment, and build relationships rooted in truth, grace, and respect. Heal the places where community has wounded us, and remind us that Your faithful presence never fails. In Jesus’ name, amen.
