It All Belongs to Him

There is something in us that naturally reaches to hold on.

We gather, we build, we protect, we plan. We say my home, my career, my time, my resources—not always out of pride, but often out of responsibility. We’ve been entrusted with much, and we want to steward it well.

But Psalm 24 gently interrupts that instinct.

“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it…”

Everything.

Not just the spiritual things.
Not just what we offer back to Him.
But everything we see, everything we touch, everything we think we’ve secured.

It all belongs to Him.

This truth doesn’t strip us—it frees us.

Because when we remember that nothing we hold is truly ours, the pressure to control begins to loosen. We are no longer owners trying to protect what could be lost, but stewards entrusted to care for what already belongs to God.

And stewardship carries a different posture.

It softens our grip.
It steadies our decisions.
It realigns our hearts.

We begin to ask different questions:

Not “How do I keep this?”
But “How does God want this used?”

Not “What if I lose it?”
But “How can I honor Him with it while I have it?”

Even our lives—our breath, our bodies, our days—are not self-created possessions. They are gifts. Sacred, temporary, purposeful gifts.

And when we live from that place, something shifts.

Gratitude replaces entitlement.
Trust replaces fear.
Surrender replaces striving.

Because we realize—we were never meant to carry the weight of ownership. Only the responsibility of faithfulness.

Today is an invitation to release what we’ve been gripping too tightly.

To open our hands.
To realign our hearts.
To remember whose it all is.

And in that remembering, to live a little lighter, a little freer, and a lot more surrendered.

Because it was never ours to begin with.
