Looking Ahead at The Witness Journal: March Theme: Faithful Witness — Women Whose Quiet Courage Changed History
March holds a beautiful convergence.
It is the season of Lent — a sacred journey of reflection, repentance, and renewed alignment with God.
And it is also Women’s History Month — a time set aside to honor the impact of women whose courage shaped generations.
So this month at The Witness Journal, we are bringing those two rhythms together.
We will spend the next four weeks sitting with the lives of four biblical women whose quiet obedience shifted history. Not celebrities. Not trendsetters. But women who responded when God called.
Their stories are not just historical.
They are instructional.
They remind us that courage is often quiet.
That leadership is often reluctant.
And that obedience is often costly.
This first week, we begin with Deborah — prophetess, judge, and leader in a season of national fear.
Deborah did not wait for perfect conditions.
She did not shrink from responsibility.
She spoke what God said.
She rose when others hesitated.
And perhaps, during this Lenten season, we are being invited to rise too.

Lent invites examination.
Women’s History Month invites remembrance.
Together, they invite response.
This week, we will quiet ourselves beneath the palm tree.
We will listen.
We will examine.
And we will ask:
Where is God asking me to rise?
A Prayer for the Week Ahead
Father,
As we begin this new month, steady our hearts.
As we honor the courage of women who have gone before us, help us to see where You are writing courage into our own lives.
Where we have been passive, awaken us.
Where we have been hesitant, strengthen us.
Where we have been silent, give us clarity and conviction.
During this Lenten season, search us gently.
Refine us faithfully.
Align us fully with Your will.
If You are calling us to rise, let us rise in obedience — not pride.
Let us lead from intimacy, not impulse.
Let us speak what You say, and trust You with the outcome.
Make us faithful witnesses in our time, just as Deborah was in hers.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Leona
