Embracing God’s New Thing

As we head into Friday, let’s take a moment to settle into the promise of Isaiah 43:19 MSG: “Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it?”

As we’re in our renewal process, it’s never quite this straightforward. Often, this is exactly when we might feel the enemy trying to pull us back into old patterns or stir up insecurity. When we start stepping into something new, it’s not unusual to feel a bit unsure or to wonder if anything is really changing. But this is the very moment to trust that God is indeed at work.

In other words, it’s a gentle reminder that we don’t have to stay stuck in the past or be discouraged by the enemy’s attempts to pull us back. God’s new thing is real and unfolding, and we can step forward with confidence knowing that He is making a way.

So how do we make this happen and keep our focus? It starts with being intentional about where we fix our eyes. We lean into prayer, we soak in these renewal scriptures, and we gently remind ourselves that every small step of faith counts. The more we focus on God’s promise of newness, the less hold the past or the enemy’s distractions will have on us.

Now, as we close, let’s do something a bit different. Instead of just a journaling prompt, I invite you into a moment of stillness. Find a quiet space, take a few deep breaths, and simply lean in. Leaning in means turning your heart toward God in the silence, listening for His gentle whisper, and letting yourself rest in the assurance that He is doing something new. In this quiet space, even if you feel under attack, know that leaning in is your act of faith. It’s where you let go of the noise and hold onto His promise.

Take a few minutes to be still and lean in, and let that be your preparation for the weekend ahead.
