Love Poured Into Our Hearts
Love. We often think of it as feelings—like butterflies or emotional highs. But God’s love is different. Romans 5:5 tells us His love is poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit. Even when we don’t feel it, it’s there.
Sometimes we wonder why we can’t always sense it. The Holy Spirit works quietly, and as we walk daily with God—through Scripture, fellowship, and reflection—we grow in awareness. Our desire for God ignites that awareness, revealing the love that already exists within us.
As we walk with Him, that love matures. It’s reflected in grace, patience, and compassion that others see. We’re called to love one another, and when God’s love flows outward, it becomes that invitation.
For four years, as a very young child, I was molested by an older cousin. I thought I had forgiven him. But only when I saw how fear of encountering my past held me captive did I truly experience freedom. When my cousin passed, I realized God’s love had been working all along—teaching me to release the fear. It’s in those moments of surrender that we come to understand what forgiveness and love truly mean.
But to love others fully, we must also embrace the love God has for us. Many try to give love without first receiving it. When we don’t see ourselves in God’s light, it can lead to emptiness or loneliness. But as we surrender, we begin to see ourselves as He does—with grace and purpose. In that transformation, we can grow spiritually and emotionally, becoming truly capable of loving others as God intended.
In daily life, this growing awareness may manifest in small yet meaningful ways—such as sensing God’s peace in a stressful moment or feeling His nudge when you need direction. The more we notice these, the more we realize His love is already at work within us.
This month, as we focus on deeper intimacy with God’s love, I encourage you to pause. Reflect on John 15:9 or 1 John 4:11. Take a moment of stillness—ask God to deepen your awareness of His love, so it can pour out through you in the days ahead.
Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for pouring Your love into our hearts. Help us grow in awareness of Your presence, to see ourselves and others through Your eyes. Teach us to love as You love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Leona
